The drive to London from Toronto is long and boring but having seen USS perform several times before I knew it would be worth the drive. I arrived at the venue at 9:30 and Repartee was already on stage. The concert goers were in their late twenties to mid- thirties and most already three beers in. Repartee's energy on stage was infectious. Having previously only heard of them in passing I could see what the hype was about. Lead singer, Meg Warren, jumps and dances around on stage as she belts out the lyrics, her shiny blue jacket reflecting the lights. As she grabs her glowing mic stand and whips her hair back and forth to the beat, you can't help but want to dance along.

Over the past few years they've taken Canada by storm, touring with Tegan and Sara, LIGHTS, Dragonette, Arkells and currently warming the stage for USS. Repartee are an electro-pop band hailing from St. John's Newfoundland and their debut album "All Lit Up" is available now to stream, buy and download.

More concert goers shuffled in as the Repartee's set ended and anyone at the bar soon found a spot closer to the stage before USS came on. I squeezed my way to the front and past the barricade just as the Toronto natives hit the stage. There are very few bands that take the stage the way these guys do, Ash Buccholz and Jason "Human Kebab" Parsons use every inch to thrash, spin and jump around. At one point Jason uses his knee and mouth to control his turntables and performed his signature move of standing on his head.

It was a truly incredible performance and definitely worth the drive. As I left the pit I hovered at the bar to watch the rest of the show which even included an ode to the late-great George Michael as the intro of "Careless Whisper" played over the speakers. The lights were dimmed and the crowd was a sea of cellphones swaying back and forth before breaking into “This Is The Best”.  Ubiquitous Syngery Seeker's newest album "New World Alphabet" was just released January 13th 2017, it includes their latest single "Work Shoes" and my favourite track "Alien". The tour continues throughout Canada until February 12th with stops in Manitoba, Alberta and BC so be sure to check them out in a city near you and grab your copy of their record here
